Adjustment / Spinal Manipulation
Spinal manipulation — commonly called a chiropractic adjustment — is a hands-on technique that applies a controlled, precise force to a spinal joint. The goal is to restore proper motion, reduce pain, and improve overall function of the spine and nervous system.
How It Works
When spinal joints become restricted or misaligned, they can cause pain, stiffness, and interference with normal nerve function. A chiropractic adjustment restores proper joint movement, which helps reduce inflammation, relieve muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing process.
What to Expect
During an adjustment, you may hear a popping or clicking sound — this is simply gas releasing from the joint and is completely normal. The procedure is typically quick and most patients experience immediate relief or improved mobility. Some mild soreness in the hours following treatment is normal and resolves quickly.
Who Benefits
Spinal manipulation is effective for a wide range of conditions including low back pain, neck pain, headaches, sciatica, and joint stiffness. It is suitable for most patients and is one of the most well-researched treatments in musculoskeletal care.
